Since the mid 1990's, Illume has mastered the art of candle manufacturing. Former owner, Lynette Reed began making Illume candles in her LA garage over 15 years ago. She wanted a candle that she could smell in the room, whether it was burning or simply part of the home's decor. From there, the business grew outside of her garage and into a small boutique in West Hollywood. Her objective still holds true - vibrant colors and unique fragrances make Illume what it is today. Illume candles are still hand poured in LA and constantly improving and growing with our newest line of 100% natural candles.
Illume branded products can be found online, in spas, gift shops, boutiques and fine department stores as well as their private label merchandise in over 4,500 specialty retail and department stores nationwide.
FAQ
Q: What are Illume candles made of?
A: Illume candles are crafted from either our natural-wax formulation of soy, palm and beeswax or our food-grade paraffin. Our candles are blended with essential oils and contain only lead-free cotton- or paper-core wicks.
Q: What are the benefits of soy candles vs. vegetable paraffin?
A: Both can be used very effectively to make quality candles. Soy is known to have a cleaner burn, however, the most important factor in a clean-burning candle is a proper cotton- or paper-core wick.
Q: Do you use cotton wicks?
A: Yes, we use only cotton- and paper-core wicks. We selectively choose from hundreds of different wicks to make sure each Illume candle provides the cleanest burn possible.
Q: Are Illume candles made with essential oils?
A: Most of the fragrances we use contain essential oils.
Q: Sometimes the pillars seem to bleed. Why is that?
A: Illume candles are known for having a very high fragrance load. For this reason, a small amount of fragrance migrates to the surface of the candle and sometimes stains the packing paper. This characteristic will not effect the candle's performance.
